Since we announced our trip, the number one query has been….
“Carry on? A backpack?! Are you SURE?!”
Yes, we are sure.
The immediate follow up tends to be asking what we are bringing. So, here it is! Our packing lists for one year of travel.
Firstly, some context. On this trip, we are experiencing quite a variety of climates and temperatures. Tropical rainforests, salt deserts, mountainous altitudes, and beachside villas are all in play this trip. The addition of European Christmas markets at the start of this trip has meant a steep drop in temperature is also on the cards.
What this means is we are essentially packing for two different climates - warm and cool. In reality, we’ll often be straddling the line between the two, so many outfits will be a mix of both.

While clothes make up a big proportion of our packing, we also have toiletries, medications, technology, and other travel equipment taking up a decent chunk of our bags.
In the toiletry department, Jerry wins all the minimalist awards. He just has a toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss (dentists love him), and moisturiser/meds for eczema. He is very low maintenance. I am a little bit higher on the maintenance scale, so the rest is just me.

We’re looking forward to finding out if we’ve nailed our packing list, or if we’ll need to make changes as we go.
What do you think - Does this look similar to your packing lists? Do you think we’ve forgotten something?! Let us know now. After all, we’ve got a week left to go out and get it!
